It is learned from the Conference on Shanghai Tourism Work held yesterday that, to prevent hotel price from skyrocketing during the upcoming World Expo, the Municipal Tourism Bureau will monitor hotel prices in Shanghai during the World Expo jointly with the Municipal Development and Reform Commission, so as to lead hotels to raise price rationally. At the appropriate time, the Municipal Tourism Bureau will publish benchmark hotel prices. The hotel prices during the World Expo that exceed the benchmark prices by more than a certain rate must be reported to the superior department for filing on record as provided.
Dao Shuming, director of the Municipal Tourism Bureau, announced this year¡¯s new objective in the tourism industry yesterday: to receive 180 million domestic tourists, which represents an increase of 45% on a year-on-year basis, and to receive 7 million overseas tourists, which represents an increase of 13% on a year-on-year basis.
Before the World Expo, the Municipal Tourism Bureau will build a statistics forecast system for tourist accommodation during the World Expo, which will include all star hotels, and hostels with 100 rooms or above in Shanghai into the scope of forecast. Starting from April, the forecast system will be officially launched, by which time the hotel reservation rate, and the actual hotel room use rate in the last week, are expected to be shown through the Network, and the tourists coming to Shanghai for the World Expo can also get access through the forecast system to the information of the city¡¯s hotel room reservation.
